What is Reiki?
First and foremost, Reiki is not a religion and holds no creed or doctrine:
DEFINITION:  Reiki (RAY-KEE) the life force that gives vitality and intelligence to all life form.  It is the creative intelligence of the
Universe.  Our English language uses energy; Chinese call it chi; India calls it prana.  The energy is within us and around us.  It effects
our bodies, minds and emotions.  Reiki, the supernatural force for connecting the ki with our own body's intelligence to heal and keep
healthy.
THE HISTORY OF REIKI:
The rediscovery of this ancient method of healing occurred in the early l800's by Dr. Mikao Usui.  Dr. Usui passed it on to Dr.
Chujiro Hayashi, who passed it onto Mrs. Hawayo Takata.  Mrs. Takata brought Reiki to the western world.  Most Reiki schools
are branches of the original lineage.
WHAT IS A TREATMENT LIKE:
A treatment feels like a peaceful warm radiance flowing through and around you.  It is a loving, simple, natural, unintrusive
method of self improvement and re-balancing of energy.  It is a simple technique of laying on of hands for stress reduction,
relaxation, and adjunct to body and mind therapy.  It assists the body in supplying life energy force.  It can be used alone or in
conjunction with other healing modalities.  It can be used with dying patients as they go thru the process of change.  HANDS
ARE LAID ON OR PLACED ABOVE THE CLIENT. Clothing stays on and shoes are removed.
HOW REIKI IS LEARNED:
In a one day Reiki I class, you will become attuned to Reiki energy and learn how to apply Reiki energy to yourself, others, pets,
and plants.
In a one day Reiki II class, you will learn power symbols as well as symbols and techniques for emotional and distant healing.
You will be attuned to the symbols.
In a one day Reiki IIIa (Advanced Reiki Techniques) class you will learn techniques to apply Reiki energy and methods for
meditation, and be attuned to another symbol.
TO BECOME A TEACHER OF REIKI:  One then may choose to become a Reiki teacher which is not difficult but takes more
training.  All the above classes include hands on practice in applying Reiki energy.  Practitioners associated with
Complementary Arts have received training from lineage of Master Teacher William Rand from the Center of Reiki Training.
Master Rand received training from seven Masters in the Usui lineage.
